Happy Yuletide, one and all! It's time for a holiday contest with "cool" prizes for the chilly season.

Thank you to all our wonderful contestants--while the decision was difficult, we have picked the three winners of our holiday contest. Winners will have their codes emailed to them. Have a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year!

1st Place: Fizzle Fest - Diana Icepetal 

Hurray!  It's Fizzle-Fest time of year again!  Once a year we wizards meet with friends to compete in an unusual way.  We are not going for crazy high hit points, not for the most clever card sequences, and not to show off our well trained talented pets.  We are hoping to FIZZLE the most!  When wizards battle, fizzling can have very serious, dangerous consequences.  This time of year, for five festive days, we hope to get all of our fizzles out of our systems so that we may be spared from them the rest of the year.

Fizzle, my friends!  YOU just might get to wear the Fizzle Fez, a silly and lucky hat of honor for the winner.  Feast, frolic, and FIZZLE as much as you can during this year's friendly and fun Fizzle-Fest!

2nd Place: Lights & Kites - Ashley Star

Lights & Kites is a festival that is a favorite of many young wizards. Its a one week long festival in the middle of December that celebrates the unique bond between a wizard and their pet. The tradition for it stems from long ago when the first wizard met a piggle out in a snow storm and decided to help it instead of walking away. Since then wizards have used the holiday to celebrate their bonds with their battle buddies.

For the festival on the first 2 days a wizard and their pet will together paint a homemade kite with each others pictures on it. Then over the rest of the week they sail it into the air with their friends. In the evenings the kites are decorated with lights so that they can be seen from afar. Feasts and dancing is common during the festival. 

3rd Place: Nurture and Devotion to all Existence - Emma

This holiday is about caring and loving all living things. It’s important to care for all the creatures in the spiral and all the plant life. In order to make friends and keep the spiral going we must make sure every creature is cared for and has a home. The plants matter just as much, they provide us with many things we need and we need to make sure they are happy and cared for. This is the time for wizards to show their appreciation for all things all around the spiral.

To celebrate this holiday wizards all around the spiral give blankets and food to all creatures and provide plants with a warm place for the winter. Once this is done wizards will release a magical purple light to show support to all living things. These lights will be in the sky all through the holiday. The holiday lasts a whole month. In this time all things will feel more appreciated and cared for than ever. 

For this contest, invent your own Wizard holiday to celebrate with friends and family in the Spiral. It could be anything from a week-long feast with fireworks, dancing ponies and circuses, to a quiet day of observance for an important aspect of the winter season.

Once you have a good idea of what your holiday is all about, write 1-2 paragraphs (3-5 sentences each) describing your holiday. Your paragraph(s) should answer the following questions, but you can also add anything else you would like to mention about your holiday:

What is the name of your holiday? Why is your holiday so important to the wizards of the Spiral? What do wizards do to celebrate this holiday? How long does your holiday last?

Entries will be based on creativity and originality.
